After President Donald Trump suggested that Senator Kirsten Gillibrand “would do anything” for campaign contributions in a Tuesday tweet, Mika Brzezinski is calling out the women in his life for quietly standing by.
“Lightweight Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a total flunky for Chuck Schumer and someone who would come to my office ‘begging’ for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything for them), is now in the ring fighting against Trump,” President Trump wrote on Twitter. “Very disloyal to Bill & Crooked-USED!”
Brzezinski said Tuesday, “Let’s just say it. He’s suggesting that Kirsten Gillibrand would have sex with him in order to get campaign contributions. The president actually tweeted that this morning.”
On Wednesday’s episode of Morning Joe, the MSNBC host further reacted to the president’s tweet as well as White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ comments to reporters defending it.
“I want to know where the chief of staff is or where anybody else in the White House is this morning or where they were after that tweet went out yesterday,” she said. “The president should have taken it down. The president should have apologized if he didn’t take it down. He should have apologized for hurting Senator Kirsten Gillibrand’s feelings at the very least. But he should have apologized for being a sexist pig. For sexually harassing on Twitter. For using sex to denigrate women.”

She continued, “The president is obsessed with women — especially some women, especially women who go on television and have a voice, or especially women who serve in Congress or in the Senate who use their voices. Any woman that stands up against him, he is obsessed with. He has some special problem with women.”
Brzezinski then took specific aim at First Lady Melania Trump and the president’s daughter, Ivanka Trump.
“And the women around him? His wife, who has a platform against cyberbullying? That’s a joke. That is the saddest thing I’ve ever seen in this White House, ever in my life,” she said. “And his daughter, who came to Washington to work for the president and develop a platform for women? Go home. Go home. You’re doing nothing if you stand by this president. And you should think of the country rather than your brand.”
Brzezinski also implored Ivanka to “speak out for what is right” in a tweet.
“Maybe she will finally stand up for what is right, since her father just literally sexually harassed, in a cruel way, a woman on Twitter,” Brzezinski said on Tuesday’s show. “Ivanka: You stepped in there to talk for women to speak for women to have a platform for women. Where are you today?”
Ivanka. This is your moment. Speak out for what is right.

Just a week after President Trump issued a tweet denying claims that Melania had dreaded her husband winning the 2016 presidential election and didn’t want to be first lady, Melania said something that many have interpreted to illustrate her misery.
On Thursday, during her visit to the Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C., Melania was asked by a 10-year-old boy where she’d most like to spend the upcoming holiday.
And to Twitter’s amusement, the first lady replied, “I would spend my holidays on a deserted island, a tropical island ― with my family.”
